[SCI-TECH] Lunar Water: Stay Hydrated in Deep Space

The Earth, with the constant evolution and adaptation of humans, is slowly starting to use up the natural resources that it has accumulated, and alongside the fact that the planet is getting too crowded, it’s high time that we try and remedy this problem, don’t you think? Those in positions of power are doing what they can to try and meet the constant needs of the people: more space, more food, more of every resource! NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration), the leading agency specializing in astronautics and space exploration, is now looking to the stars to try and find a new habitable planet…And they may have just found one right under our noses — well, above, technically speaking.

What Was Found…

NASA’S SOFIA (Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy) had discovered last October 2020 that there is water present on the sunlit areas of the moon, instead of being just isolated to cold, shadowed places.

As we all know, water is an important biological ingredient for life. In that, its unique properties unlike any other material found elsewhere, makes it vital to sustaining life.

The discovery of water molecules in the Clavius crater, one of the largest visible craters from Earth, implies scientific exploration that goes beyond the current plans involving extraterrestrial bases and space exploration.

To emphasize the importance of this discovery, NASA scientists were fully aware that hydration was once present on the moon, but there was a lack of information regarding whether or not it was actually water molecules, or something more along the lines of ‘drain cleaner’.

…And What It Means

If the scientists are able to fully grasp all the implications and properties of the ‘Lunar Water’, then this can now open brand new possibilities to make Lunar Bases that is able to maintain Human Life for a long-term period; and with the option of humans and plant life being able to live on the moon, it would allow the Earth a chance to lessen the very heavy load it already carries by taking care of us humans.

If Scientists are then able to make humans live on the moon successfully, this would give those in NASA hope for future deep space exploration, with plans of humans colonizing other planets to reduce overpopulation in the planet.

We’re already looking towards Mars as an effective substitute for Earth, and with so much of space left unexplored, effective colonization and inhabiting of other planets (and formations) can allow us to go one step closer to finding a new home…and hopefully, we won’t mess that one up as much as we did Earth.

Generally known as optimistic and energetic, I have never felt more drained in my life, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

Juggling the maintenance of good grades with a casual art career, I also aim to write more, and with the opportunity of the Tigercubs to express myself with

a colorful vocabulary (In a good way!) I hope to be able to excel in various other fields. Aside from the aforementioned activities, I also spend my time listening to video essays, tutorials, and podcasts, with the subjects ranging from art, true crime, reviews, and character analyses. However, even with the struggle of multitasking, I believe that a positive personality will see me through!
