[NEWS] UST Angelicum Celebrates World Teachers’ Day Online
by Danielle Toca
Celebrating Teacher’s Day has been one of the many ways for students to show their appreciation for the hard work that their teachers have provided them; and although the COVID-19 pandemic remains as prevalent as ever, it didn’t stop the Senior High School students of UST Angelicum to express how their teachers and moderators helped them learn more about life and be an inspiration to one another.
Last October 5, 2020, the Senior High School Department celebrated World’s Teachers’ Day virtually. This event was initiated by the UST Angelicum Senior Student Government and hosted by the president of the SSG, Tobey Calayo. The celebration was held through Google Meet alongside Facebook Live on the official page of UST Angelicum College Senior High School.

The celebration began with a message to the teachers from the Administrators, starting off with the SHS Principal, Mrs. Maria Urduja Galang, followed by the SHS Academic Coordinator, Mrs. Mariecol Chavez. The commencement also included greetings from several students in the Senior High School for their teachers and moderators. The celebration ended with the singing of the UST Hymn.
Despite the students not being physically present with their beloved teachers and vise versa to celebrate this special day, they still recognized and expressed their gratitude for the efforts and dedication that their teachers had shown them and in turn, a number of teachers showed their gratitude by messaging the learners who greeted them. These acts of appreciation for each other were made possible as they made use of online platforms which made the event successful; proving that a celebration worth celebrating (safely) will be celebrated even in the midst of a pandemic.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
My name is Danielle Mari Toca but I prefer to be called ‘Dani’. There are numerous words to describe what makes me a person and a writer, but I would describe myself as the kind of person that has a peculiar sense of thinking.
I’m a pursuer, an adventurer, and a seeker of things that I want to know and things that are in need of answers. People often describe me as a shy, yet bubbly person. I enjoy designing layouts, editing videos, and making the many series and ideas inside of my head come to life. And as much as I enjoy doing all of that, writing is a different thing. With the time I spent with the UST Angelicum Tigercubs, I learned that being able to write as well as telling a story at the same time is a significant factor in being a good news writer.
My experiences in being a news writer has made me recognize the things that I am capable of doing and the things that that I should do more in order to become a better version of myself, both as a person and as a writer.
