[NEWS] Angelicans Challenged to Channel their Heroes Within for DAUNTLESS 2022

Still tackling the challenges that the COVID-19 pandemic has kept throwing at the people since 2019, the UST Angelicum College (USTAC) continues to power through and celebrate its Senior High School (SHS) Week with its students.
With the theme “DAUNTLESS 2022: Unleash the Hero Within” for this academic year 2021–2022, UST Angelicum officially launched its second virtual SHS Week on March 14, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. as premiered on the UST Angelicum Supreme Senior Student Government’s (UST Angelicum SHS SSSG) official Facebook page, for all Angelicans to join and see.
Amidst the unending challenges and perseverance that both the faculty and learners of USTAC face and show, the SHS Principal, Mrs. Maria Urduja Galang states in her opening remarks to the SHS Week that, “The annual Senior High School Week is one of the activities we look forward to; where learners can join and participate in different events that foster camaraderie and sportsmanship.”
The ceremony was kick-started by the introduction of the different teams representing different heroes from both the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the DC Universe, namely: Iron Man, Spiderman, Captain America, Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman.
Followed by the introduction of the 6 teams, was a dance performance from Gabby Perlado of the performing arts club and the introduction of the candidates for Mr. and Ms. Senior High School. Not only that but the week also consisted of a series of different E-Sports tournaments and events for the SHS learners to portray their talents and strengths such as Spoken Word Poetry, TikTok Transformation, Nearpod, Chess, Call of Duty: Mobile (CODM), Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB), Valorant, Minecraft, and Roblox.

ELIMINATION ROUND
Elimination rounds for the E-sports tournaments started as soon as 1 p.m. last Monday with the Minecraft Building Competition that lasted until Tuesday early evening.
Alongside the Minecraft Building Competition, the elimination rounds for E-Sports Games such as CODM, MLBB, Valorant, and Chess also started Tuesday, March 15, at 8:30 a.m. followed by the start of the competition for games such as Roblox, Nearpod, and Minecraft Parkour & Speedrun that commenced the following day.
SEMI-FINALS ROUND
After the elimination round that commenced for Tuesday and Wednesday, Teams Batman, Iron Man, Captain America, and Wonder Woman were the ones to qualify onto the Semi-Finals round for the MLBB League with the elimination results: Wonder Woman 2–0, Iron Man 2–0, Batman 1–1, Captain America 1–1, Superman 0–2, and Spiderman 0–2.
For Valorant, Teams Iron Man, Superman, Captain America, and Wonder Woman were the ones who moved forward with elimination results: Wonder Woman 2–0, Iron Man 2–0, Captain America 1–1, Superman 1–1, Batman 0–2, and Spiderman 0–2.
As for CODM, Teams Iron Man, Superman, Spiderman, and Batman were the ones that advanced to the Semi-Finals with elimination results: Iron Man 2–0, Batman 2–0, Superman 1–1, Spiderman 1–1, Captain America 0–2, and Wonder Woman 0–2.
Team Captain America from SHS 1 and Team Wonder Woman from SHS 2 pioneered in all three categories namely, Classical, Rapid, and Blitz in the Chess Tournament making both teams automatically be the ones that faced off in the championship stage of the competition.

Semi-Finals for E-Sports events such as CODM, MLBB, and Valorant was conducted last Thursday, March 17 which ended in determining the finalists and the teams that garnered 3rd Place in each sport.
During the Semi-Finals, Teams Batman and Wonder Woman were determined to be the ones to qualify for the MLBB Championship which, respectively, left Teams Iron Man to be the 3rd Place and Captain America to be the 4th Place for the league.
For Valorant, however, Teams Wonder Woman and Superman advanced to compete for the Valorant Championship making Team Iron Man be the 3rd Placing Team and Team Captain America to be the 4th Placing Team for the sport.
In the CODM Semis, Teams Batman and Superman both shot their way to the finals alongside placing Team Spiderman to be the 3rd and Team Iron Man to be the 4th in the Championship.
As the SHS Week only lasts for 5 days, the championship day and awarding ceremony for all events and categories was conducted, livestreamed, and posted on the same day, March 18, 2022 at the UST Angelicum SHS SSSG’s official Facebook page for all to see. The results are as follows.

As the winners for all E-Sports Tournaments were determined through teams battling each other in their respective arenas, the winners however, for other events such as TikTok Transformation, Spoken Word Poetry, and the Mr. and Ms. Senior High School were judged by a selected panel of judges per respective event invited by the UST Angelicum SHS SSSG.
This is the second SHS Week that UST Angelicum College has celebrated online, hopefully the last virtual celebration don’t you think?
