Longing felt scratched upon the surface;

Told tales about as though it was but a breeze,

But lie down and think about the muse you yearn for

And feel the heaviness weigh on your chest

And wrap around your head.

Think of the emptiness and non-completion,

The riddle of holes present within;

Hands left empty and untangled,

Arms left unlocked and disconnected,

But a heart so full that it settles under the sternum,

And pushes itself into the spine

With its mass.

A heart so full and heavy with love,

And have it nowhere to go besides

Words, words and words.

Only in these syllables has it bled,

A love that can’t be touched,

Only dreamt about

In print.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Karina Melencio

I am Karina Melencio and I consider myself to be an anxious, nervous yet driven writer that has written for as long as I can remember.

Being a news editor in my Junior High School journalism club and presently a literary editor in Tigercubs, I was able to learn closely from talented teachers and students alike. In my spare time, I like to cook and watch anime!
